DAY 3 TRIP TO TUCSON ARIZONA 4-22-09

Day 3 , Thursday 4-22-09 started off a little cloudy. Bill's vacation starts at 3:30 p.m. and the serious riding starts tomorrow. While Bill was at work, I went & gassed up the bike and rode around and took a couple of pics. Scroll down & see a little more of Tucson and Bill's. REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

A view East from in front of Bill's house

A view from Thorneydale Drive to the South

Another view to the South from Thorneydale Ave.

A view to the North on Shannon Dr.

The Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa

I went back to the house & as I waited for Bill & Dale to get there, I got these pics of the room I was sleeping in. I had great protection

Bill is an avid hunter and a world renown amateur enthusiast of lepadoptera (moths & butterfly study) with a strong knowledge of Arizona moth species.

This dead Saguaro sits in the corner and the bobcat is just about directly over my head when I lay down

Then he has the ever present rattlesnake he killed.

Some of the moths & butterfly's he has had on exhibit..

On ledges of most houses, folks have flowers or bottles. Bill has two motorcycle engines. The one on the left is a 63-73 BSA 650 cc A-65. The one on the right is a pre-1963 BSA 650cc A-10

Ms Clone parked out front in Bill's driveway

A view down Bill's street to the West

Bill got home & fired up the grill. Here is Bill. I met him in 1973 at Shaw AFB South Carolina and we have be friends ever since. Shaw AFB is just East of Columbia S.C.

He made some big thick steaks and these were a lot better than most steaks you get at steak houses, and they darn near melted in your mouth...

After dinner we went out to the bike shed. He has the 73 Kawasaki Z-1 (covered). Next is the 77 Triumph Queen's Silver Jubilee Limited Edition Bonneville. Then the 08 Triumph 900 Bonneville and then his 04 Harley Fat Boy

Bill at his bike shed. He quickly corrected me that this was not a bike shed, it was "The Shrine".

Every night here in Tucson, they have a bike night at different establishments for just about any make of bike. These are some of the trophies he has won with his Triumph's.

He is the original owner of the Kawasaki Z-1 and the Vin is below 1000. His blue ribbon's & trophies that he has won recently at the bike shows with the Z-1

The Z-1 and the Silver Jubilee. The Jubilee is 1 of only 1000 made. I will do detailed pics & posts on each bike when Bill rolls them out of the shed..

This is Dale & Bill. Dale is in the process of customizing his Harley and should get it back tomorrow. Dale is a former Marine & a Vietnam vet.

Me & Bill..I got a little sun on the ride from Texas to Arizona as you can see from my burned cheeks & nose.

Me & Dale. I think he is borrowing one of Bill's bikes tomorrow, if his doesn't get finished, so he can go with us...

Daisy guarding my sleeping area until I get ready to "go to couch"

A view 0f the patio with the light blue solar lights..It is pitch black out there at night...This will conclude this post. Tomorrow afternoon or evening, I will post Day 4. We plan on taking a ride down to Patagonia Arizona.
