The Michigan Ride DAY 5 5-24-09

DAY 5 was Sunday 5-24-09. We decided to spend the day hanging out at the trailer and do the usual care taking jobs. Bob's place up there is very relaxing so check it out and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURES..

This is the Tobacco River which runs thru the RV park. The water is clear & cold and has trout in it..

A view of Bob's RV from the river

Bob cuts the grass as Rick looks on. Rick had just returned from the laundry room up by the office.

Our bikes out front

Rick by his bike as we get ready to move them off the grass so Bob could cut it.

We moved them across the road onto Gary & Chris's lot. Chris was up there with a friend and her kids and Gary was not with her. Bob was going to show Gary the picture and ask him who the bikers were at his trailer with Chris & her friend...(grin)

Bob works his way up front

The bikes at Chris & Gary's

Julia & Cindy, Bob's neighbors, come by selling 50/50 tickets. She gathered so much money that at the drawing, they gave away FOUR $105 prizes. Julia , Cindy's daughter, is a cancer survivor. Last year when I was up, they had to rush her home to the hospital from the RV park. She is one tough little girl and is doing great..

After cutting the grass, it was time for the flag raising.. First Bob & Rick had to put the flagpole together.

Bob attaches Old Glory as Rick checks for my whereabouts.. They found out first hand how & why I got my nickname "Snapshot"

This is Bob & Rick's rendition of the raising of the flag on Mt. Saribachi...

Up & fluttering in the breeze. There is no greater flag on the planet...

A short time later, some kids came around and guess what they had? A snake! I don't know what's up with all the snakes lately but I wanted to hold it..

Getting a firm grip on it.. Usually my attitude about snakes is the same I hold for spiders and that is the only good one , is a dead one. But I didn't want to cause any psychological problems later on in life for the kids, so I did not kill their snake..

As I held that snake I could of sworn it was giving me the evil eye... Maybe I should of killed it..

Later on, we had a little bonfire. Here are George (Cindy's husband), Cindy, Bob & Rick

Rick enjoying the fire

Bob by the fire. This will conclude DAY 5. I had a good time resting up today. Tomorrow we start out up the coast of Lake Huron to Mackinaw City.
