Friday Catfish Run 2-6-09

Christina emailed me the other day about going to Oklahoma and eating catfish up at Bill's Catfish Restaurant. Today, Friday, 2-6-09, was a great day for the ride: 77 degrees, sunny and windy. On today's ride were Christina, Cecil, Danny, Dennis and me, John. You have to remember that being Friday, lots of other folks that usually ride, had to do that obscene, four letter word: WORK. Scroll on down and join us on this brief but enjoyable ride and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE.

We met at the Shell Station at Windthorst Rd & US 287 at 11:00 -11:15 a.m. and then went KSU at 11:30 a.m. It's about a 35 minute or so ride to Waurika Oklahoma where Bill's Catfish Restaurant is located. Here are, left to right: Danny, Dennis, Christina & Cecil.

Christina then took this pic prior to us leaving: Left to right: Me, Cecil, Dennis & Danny. Cecil is one of our PGR Road Captains and Danny, Christina & I are members of the Blue Knights TX XX. I just met Dennis. He is self employed and the man has a great sense of humor. I enjoyed riding with him.

We took US 287 South to TX 79 North. Here are Christina, Danny & Dennis with Cecil tail gunning, as seen in the rear view mirror..

An over the shoulder shot shows Christina minus her bandana, Danny, Dennis & Cecil. Christina lost her bandana to the wind on the first curve going onto northbound Tx 79

Established on Tx 79.. Christina, Danny, Dennis & Cecil. Going up to Oklahoma we had about a 25 mph tailwind. Coming back, we went cross country and had a 25-30 mph crosswind..Made picture taking interesting...

The view in front of me is clear & cloudless. I led going up and unfortunately, I don't know the back roads very well and all I know is how to get from Point A directly to Point B. So the ride up, while enjoyable, was rather routine & bland as far as scenery goes..

Here are the bikes up at the restaurant..

Inside Bill's Catfish Restaurant, Waurika Oklahoma.. Christina & Danny

Cecil grins while Dennis checks in...

Christina gets the four of us sitting at the vtable: Cecil (back to camera), part of Dennis (blue Shirt) and Danny (Black Harley bandana) and me (facing the camera.)

Another view of Danny, Cecil, Dennis & me..

Cecil & Dennis.. Although I have never met Bill O'Reilly, Dennis could be his twin. At least Christina & I thought so..

After we ate, we head back South to Texas. Here we are approaching the Red River Bridge and Texas is on the other side...

Here we go over the Red River.

We near the other side and home or Texas sweet Texas!!! Why do I like Texas? Reason #23: It's 77 degrees on Feb 6th & we're out riding...

Here is Cecil on his Harley, Southbound on Tx 79

Here is Dennis on his Harley. I was getting buffeted pretty good by the crosswind and getting a centered picture at 70 mph was just about impossible today..

Christina sans bandana on her Harley. Losing her bandana didn't bother her at all. Her husband, Joe, has a Harley but I do believe he had to do that nasty thing today called WORK....

Here is Danny on his Harley. I couldn't get hardly any distance between us due to coming into Byers Texas and the road narrowing. So, I took two of him..He was our leader for the scenic ride back...

Here is the other picture of Danny. That Harley of his has some GREAT sounding pipes too..

Heading down one of the country roads. That's Cecil, Dennis, Christina and Danny out front.

A little closer pic of the four in front of me. Same order: Cecil, Dennis, Christina & Danny

Part of the joy of riding in the country are the sights, sounds & smells. Here are some cattle doing their thing. I couldn't hear them mooing and trust me, you didn't want to smell what we smelled!!

We got back to Wichita Falls and we pulled over by the Wichita River. Cecil continued South and this is Dennis, Danny & Christina just before we all headed in different directions.

The last pic of this post is of my editor in chief, Tigger. She monitors me doing the blog from this position almost every time I work on it. The CD's are my current task of loading music on the computer's jukebox.
I had a great time today, as always, and enjoyed meeting Dennis. He is welcome to ride with us any time he wants to.. It was also good to see Cecil again, on an enjoyable ride, rather than the solemn PGR Missions we usually ride together on.
Tomorrow, Saturday, 2-7-09, we have a Chapter ride planned to Muenster Texas..Cya then..

  1. With every passing winter that I endure here in the Northwest, I entertain the thought of moving someplace a little more freindly to those of us who prefer to ride.

77 degrees on Feb. 6th.........I'll have to wait about 3 or 4 more months to see that here.

    I envy you.
